A motorcyclist was urgently transported to Southmead Hospital with severe injuries following a collision with a lorry on Monday, February 24. The incident occurred around 2:45 pm on Dean Road in Yate, where an air ambulance touched down to assist.
The biker sustained a significant leg injury and was rushed to the hospital for treatment, according to police reports. The crash prompted a robust response from emergency services, including air and land ambulances, a hazardous area response team, police, and fire crews.
A witness reported to BristolLive: “There were multiple agencies on scene—police, ambulance, fire brigade, and an air ambulance. The crash involved a van turning onto Dean Road.”
Avon and Somerset Police issued a statement: “We received a call at approximately 2:45 pm today (Monday, 24 February) regarding a collision between a motorbike and a lorry on Dean Road, Yate. The motorcyclist suffered serious leg injuries and has been taken to hospital. The road is currently closed.”
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) added: “We were alerted at 14:42 hrs on Monday, 24 February, to a road traffic incident in Yate. Our response included a double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a tactical commander, and the hazardous area response team. One patient was transported to Southmead Hospital by land ambulance.”
