Authorities in East Lancashire have removed dozens of untaxed and abandoned cars as part of a major crackdown called “Bin the Bangers.” Officers from Lancashire Constabulary, alongside the DVLA and local council, targeted various locations in Pendle this week to clear the streets of neglected vehicles.
Over 40 Cars Removed from Nelson and Brierfield
On the first day of the operation, officers seized 16 vehicles from Garden Street, Bradley Road in Nelson, and Clegg Street in Brierfield. The following day, another 26 cars were taken from multiple streets, including Norfolk Street, Earl Street, Lonsdale Street, Tavistock Street, and several others.
In total, 42 vehicles were removed in just two days. Police have confirmed they will continue their efforts in the coming days to seize more abandoned and untaxed cars from the area.
Police and Authorities Committed to Keeping Streets Clear
The Lancashire Police shared updates about the operation on social media. A Facebook post on February 19 read:
“Bin The Bangers strikes again… Today, the Pendle Neighbourhood team, along with the DVLA and the council, have been out seizing untaxed and abandoned vehicles. We have seized a total of 16 vehicles from: Garden Street, Nelson, Clegg Street, Brierfield, and Bradley Road, Nelson. We will be back…”
A follow-up post on February 20 stated:
“Bin the Bangers Day 2! Today, we have been back doing our operation ‘Bin The Bangers’. In the past two days, we have seized a total of 42 vehicles in Nelson and Brierfield.”
