New data reveals Bristol's top primary and secondary schools

Bristol’s top-performing primary and secondary schools for the 2023/24 academic year have been unveiled, based on newly released data from GOV.UK. Compiled by Online Marketing Survey and Ratcliffe Cleaning Contractors into The School Report, the rankings highlight Summerhill Academy in St George as the city’s leading primary school.

Primary schools were judged by the proportion of pupils achieving expected levels in reading and maths exams, alongside writing assessments. Where percentages tied, rankings hinged on the number of students at the end of key stage two. Secondary schools and colleges, meanwhile, were evaluated using the “attainment 8” score, reflecting performance across up to eight qualifications.

Summerhill Academy on Plummer’s Hill topped the primary list, with an impressive 94 percent of pupils meeting expected standards—well above the UK average of 61 percent. Westbury Park School trailed closely at 91 percent, followed by SS Peter and St Paul Primary School at 86 percent.
