A fire broke out in a building near Clifton Suspension Bridge on Thursday, February 20, 2025, leading to the closure of a major road. Avon Fire and Rescue Service has urged people to steer clear of the Bridge Road area in Clifton after flames erupted on Bannerleigh Road, Leigh Woods.
According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, the blaze prompted the shutdown of Bridge Road in both directions by 7:55 a.m., causing slow traffic between A369 Abbots Leigh Road and Burwalls Road. The closure impacts the Leigh Woods side of the bridge. While emergency services are on-site, it remains unclear which building is affected.
The fire service later confirmed the incident involves a flat on Bannerleigh Road in Clifton. No injuries have been reported, and emergency crews are managing the situation. Authorities have been reached for further details.
