Hannah Bird and Charlie Camper, a young couple from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, have faced more medical battles in their 25 years than most encounter in a lifetime. From cancer to cardiac arrest, they’ve endured it all – and come out stronger. Instead of letting their experiences hold them back, they’ve turned their challenges into fuel for a life of adventure. Today, they travel the world, ticking off bucket-list experiences and sharing their journey to inspire others.
A Life-Changing Cancer Diagnosis
Hannah’s life took a sudden turn at 22 when she was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The symptoms were subtle – a rash, exhaustion, and a persistent cough – but for six months, doctors dismissed them. By the time they discovered the cancer, it had spread significantly, requiring 18 tough rounds of chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
“Doctors ignored my night sweats, unexplained bruising, and constant infections,” Hannah recalls. “If you notice these signs, demand tests. Early detection is crucial.”
Her experience has made her a vocal advocate for cancer awareness, urging people to trust their instincts and fight for their health.
A Heart-Stopping Crisis
While Hannah was battling cancer, Charlie faced a medical crisis of his own. He suffered a cardiac arrest due to an undiagnosed genetic heart condition. His heart stopped for 22 minutes before doctors revived him. Today, he lives with an internal defibrillator to protect against future incidents.
The couple later learned that their future children have a 50% chance of inheriting the condition, adding another layer to their health journey. Despite these challenges, Charlie remains positive. “We’ve faced death together, and now we’re determined to live life to the fullest,” he says.
Choosing Adventure Over Tradition
When it came time to plan their wedding, Hannah and Charlie made an unconventional decision. Instead of spending money on a lavish event, they invested in a dream honeymoon.
“Material things don’t matter when you’ve stared death in the face,” Charlie explains. “We chose experiences over possessions.”
Over the past year, the couple has:
- Visited 42 countries
- Taken over 200 flights
- Traveled more than 61,000 miles
They’ve documented their journey for thousands of followers on TikTok, where their videos have earned over 12.8 million likes. From skydiving in Dubai to watching the Northern Lights in Iceland, their adventures have captured hearts worldwide.

Looking Ahead: A Mission to Give Back
The couple’s journey is far from over. They are now working on a project to help young cancer survivors and people with chronic illnesses find safe and affordable ways to travel.
“There’s a myth that adventure is only for the healthy,” Hannah says. “We want to show that anyone can explore the world, regardless of their medical history.”
Their dream is to start a foundation that supports individuals with serious health conditions, offering resources and encouragement to live life without limits.
Hannah and Charlie’s story is a testament to the power of resilience, love, and a positive mindset. After facing life-threatening illnesses, they’ve chosen to embrace each day as a gift. Their adventures are more than just travel – they are a celebration of life and a beacon of hope for others.
As Hannah puts it, “We’ve been sharing our journey for five years, and we’re just getting started. Life is short – so chase your dreams while you can.”
