Three guys charged following stolen items are returned to owners

Three men are now in custody, facing charges linked to a series of burglaries after police successfully returned stolen goods to their owners. Avon and Somerset Police reported that victims of break-ins spanning 2023 to November 2024 are among those reunited with their belongings.

The arrests follow a wave of thefts targeting homes and outbuildings across Somerset and extending into Devon’s Blackdown Hills, north of Honiton. Officers seized roughly 400 suspected stolen items, ranging from paintings and silverware to tools and decorative pieces.

Last December, the police launched an online gallery showcasing nearly 250 images of recovered goods, which helped facilitate many returns. They followed up with a public exhibition at Edington Village Hall, near Bridgwater, on February 14 and 15, 2025, displaying more of the seized property. The effort has now led to charges against three suspects, who remain detained.

Amanda, who attended the event, shared her delight: “I’m thrilled I made the trip to Edington and spotted two of my paintings among the recovered items. It’s incredible!”

Mark echoed the sentiment: “Getting even a small portion of my stolen things back feels good, and I’m genuinely impressed they managed to recover any of it.”

Alexander was equally overjoyed: “Hearing that nearly all our stuff was found was such a wonderful shock. Having our cherished belongings back where they belong brings us joy every day. We’re so grateful to the police for pulling this off against the odds.”

Robert reflected on the ordeal: “After our burglary, PC David Pepper visited us twice quickly and spent a lot of time offering support. It was a horrible experience, but getting some of our things back has brought us a bit of comfort.”
